If you’re ever around Birkirkara and need a break from the traffic, head to Train Station’s Park.
Known in Maltese as “Il-Ġnien ta’ l-Istazzjon”, the gardens are a special site – they were once home to Malta’s own train station. The beautiful station building still stands in the middle of the park, with a train carriage on display – a fun feature for little tots who love trains!
The playground
The play equipment is split into three main areas:
- The swings
- The jungle gym for older kids
- The jungle gym for tiny tots
The swings area includes a wheelchair-accessible swing and standing game equipment, backed by a huge Buzz Lightyear and Rex from Toy Story.
The space
Shaded by huge, beautiful trees, this one’s a great spot for hot summer months. There’s plenty of room for kids to run around freely, and a fully fledged restaurant right next to a sheltered outdoor dining area.
There are plenty of benches throughout the length of Train Station’s Park, and entrances on either side – you can enter from the side of the Birkirkara bus station or from the road leading to St Aloysius college.
